I have always been aware from school age that I did not possess a small physique like many of my friends.
I participated in many sports at school and possessed a good level of fitness, however much to my detriment, once I had left school and began to study at college, the realisation that the sports and activities which I had become accustomed to were no longer readily available and doing what teenagers do I began to put weight on.
At 18 I found myself in a long term relationship and once again, as very commonly in teenage life, I was still was gaining weight.
During this time however, I maintained a good level of fitness even applying for the Fire Brigade and successfully completing all the fitness tests ( with an ear infection at the time! )
My frustrations became even more apparent when I did venture to the gym as a slim girl would get on the treadmill next to me, looking like she was fitter than me - even though half the time they were not.
I just felt my body did not match my inner strengths.
At the age of 22, I was now single and weighing 12.5 stone at a size 16+ and from that point, I have taken myself on a journey of up to 8 years to get me into my current condition. Obviously having had the experience of 8 years of ups and downs I can safely say I talk from experience and have had to learn some tricks along the way!
There is no miracle rule, no diets or magic medication that has brought me to this point. It has been done solely with hard work, determination and focus.
I can honestly say that the hours spent looking in the mirror, trying to be happy with what I was wearing, ending up in tears half the time are long behind me!
Make no mistake, I have come to realise that I will never be physically built to eat what I like and get away with it and the realisation that I will always have to be careful with my nutrition and exercise regime to stay a healthy weight meant it never went back on!
I will tell you the secret but I guarantee it's not what you want to hear.
When you can accept you have to make a change for life - you will succeed.
Many of my clients see me as I am now and assume its natural but I am still on my life's journey with new goals and ambitions to complete and whilst I am now happy within myself, it gives me an increased level of confidence and drive to continue.
Watching many of my clients follow in my foot steps where they achieve weight loss, muscle gain or fitness goals, allows me to see the way in which they become more happy within themselves where confidence and personalities grow in abundance.
This is my biggest reward and I know deep down that anyone can achieve this if they want it enough and I can help you get there and I promise along your journey it will be FUN !
